COVID-19 forced many establishments including bars and restaurants to shut down thus forcing many people to just stay at home. Just recently, Clackamas Country Gov. Kate Brown permitted bars and restaurant dining rooms to reopen under new rules that included masks for all employees and last call at 10 pm. At the so-called opening night, Oregon City Mayor Dan Holladay even dropped by a local pub to thank patrons for leaving their homes and returning to have a drink or two with their friends. He was one of the half-dozen mayors who petitioned the governor early this month for a speedy return to business.

Willamette Falls in Oregon City, OR

The Willamette Falls is a 42-foot-high and 1,500-foot-wide falls that is shaped like a horseshoe caused by a basalt shelf in the river bottom. It is considered as the largest waterfall by water volume in the Northwest and the 18th largest in the world. The falls are surrounded by the oldest continuously operating multi-lift lock and canal system in the United States.  If you are interested in the importance of this magnificent water form and the locks to the local area, make sure that you visit more than the two viewpoints along the highway. Although the regular vantage points offer stunning views, they won't offer enough information about this natural wonder.
